Short Film Codes and conventions - 2 or 3 main characters allowing the audience to be able to connect with the characters more in a short amount of time. - Includes a twist in the plot so the storyline is more interesting to the audience. - Low budget because most short films are produced by independent directors and they don't have the equipment needed. - 5 to 10 minutes in length - short films normally enhance a normal day occurrence allowing the audience to relate to it they then change it in a way that intrigues the audience. - Todorovs theory of Equilibrium is common found within short films. - Some short films are spin-offs from full length movies for example Disney films are very often found to have short films that link to major films, for example Moana, Frozen, Inside Out and Up. - Explores a exciting storyline due to trying to keep the audience interested and the fact that it is a film in a shorter period of time it needs to be enticing and effective. Introduction

Within year 1 i focused on a 2 minute opening to a film which was a thriller genre film. I explored to limits of what i could do within a opening allowing me to experiment with what i had. I was able to experience what filming a narrative structure piece was like and this then taught me about structure and taught me how i would use my research in order for my media product to either conform or subvert the stereotypes. I also learnt how to plan and use my time wisely. What i am wanting to do this year is to be able to work on my own so i am able to get my media piece exactly the way i want it, this will also help improve planning because i would be the only one that is needed so it will be easier to plan things. I am also going to explore the idea of a short film which is going to have a drama/documentary genre and structure.
