Ancillary research- magazine review conventions

Magazine review common conventions: - a powerful still from the film - the title of the film - formal language used - star rating - relevant information - brief plot overview - behind the scenes Colour scheme - depending on the genre of film the colours used are usually bright and eye catching, therefor catching the audiences eyes. White backgrounds behind text to give it a traditional look allowing the text tobe clearly read and understood. If the title is over the image then the colour of the text would typically be bright. Images - normally powerful - sums up the film - shows the main characters - possible behind the scenes - close ups - normally outlined to show their importance Text - the typical text stands out against the background image or the text boxes have a white background contrasting the colour of the text.

Levi Strauss's theory- binary opposites Levi's theory explores the idea that a film contains binary opposites. What is meant by this is that aspects of the film are seen as complete opposites for example a hero and a villain, light and dark and good and evil. Within my short film you can see that this idea has been presented through the cleanliness and dirtiness. With a stereotype of an autistic person being that they are organised and clean, they don't like dirt and things that art in order, therefore the binary opposites theory has been presented.  Barthes- narrative codes Barthes' theory emphasises the fact that the audience is given codes in which changes how they view the piece. For example one of the codes are enigma codes, these codes give the audience a puzzle to solve so if you compare this to my short film the audience is given hints about Charlie's life and his autism by factors which include clothing, props and setting, also by his actions and r...

From looking at this feedback i have decided to incorporate facts into my film, I am also going to add some music to the film. The reason why I want to do this is because i agree that it looks like it is missing something. By adding these things I will end up needing to cut some of the footage.
