Film poster conventions

Image
Common conventions: must be eye catching  have a picture that relates to the film which is interesting bold title which stands out aspects which help the audience know what the genre of the film is shows information, for example the release date and the actors who star in it possible reviews/ rating the directors name and production company Colour scheme: The colours used would typically relate to the genre of the film. For example if the film is a horror film the colours that would be used would be dark and gloomy, if the genre of the film is comedy then the colours would be bright, therefore relating to the genre.  Images: The images that are commonly found on a film poster typically sum up the film. It allows the viewer to learn enough about the film to be enticed to watch it. The image could include some of the main characters, therefore informing the viewer, by doing this the film is made to look attractive because of the reputation that certain actors ha...

Magazine review- aspects and explanation

Image
In the top left hand corner you can see that there is a banner which reads 'review'. The reason why i placed it in the corner is because when I did my research I found that many other magazine reviews had banners almost to highlight that the article was a review. Due to it being positioned at the top of the page it was the first thing the audience saw which therefore makes it effective and ideal for my magazine review. Another aspect which is located in the top left hand corner is the title 'Charlie'. By putting the title at the top of the page it is made clear to the viewer that it is important and therefore the title. The reason why I situated it in the top left hand corner is the same reason for the banner, because it catches the audience eyes and is the first thing they see. By having it in black font it stands out against the background and I decided to use the same font as my film poster which allows a reoccurring theme to be created. The title of the film is...

Title decision

Image
When choosing a name for my film I wanted it to be really simplistic like the films that I am going to research. I also wanted it to be short so it would be more dramatic. Due to it being about a little boy I thought it would be really good to use his name as the title 'Charlie'. I thought that because it was short and snapping it would work really well. I also thought that it sums up what the film is about and that it is informative. I also wanted to highlight the idea that people who have autism shouldn't be seen as anything different which is why i chose such a popular boys name.

Magazine review- final edit how to

Image
From my first audience feedback I decided to add aspects to my magazine review and change the layout. I wanted to change the layout because I thought that it would look more interesting if the aspects were mixed up, what I mean by this is that when I added all of the aspects it looked very blocked and simple. Even though I wanted it to be simplistic I didn't want it to be so simplistic it was boring which is why I decided to change the layout. I kept the title in the same place as well as the drawing in the bottom left hand corner. I then added more equations in the background in order to make it look more full. I also anted to split the images up so I decided to put the two smaller ones on the first page and the bigger one on the second page. By splitting them up I think that the interest is split between the two pages. By splitting the elements between the two pages makes the pages equally as interesting, which makes it overall effective.

Magazine review- second draft audience feedback

Image
I asked for some audience feedback on my 2nd draft of my magazine review and I found that the most common improvements that were suggested were to include more drawings/doodles in the background and possibly rearranging the layout. Another improvement that was suggested was include a star rating and a black background for the text.  The aspect that they liked was the text and the drawings that have already been included. By this information I am going to improve it by including more aspects which are typically found on a magazine review, for example page numbers and star ratings. I am also going to include more equations in the background to link it to the idea that autistic people have a interest in math and solving problems.

Magazine review- second draft

Image
From my first draft I have changed the text that has been included, I wanted to put the text in columns because it is more common for it to be arranged in this way. I am wanting to get audience feedback to see how I could improve it.

Audience feedback- first draft magazine review

Image
For my audience feedback I asked a range of people for their thoughts on my first draft of my magazine review. One thing that was said was that the doodles that have been included are really effective and links well with the film poster and makes it look childlike and relates to the idea of Spiderman. One thing that was said to maybe improve was to move the bottom image more central and to obviously include the review. Also another idea is to possible change the font.

Magazine review- editing how to first draft

Image
First of all, I started by placing the image that I wanted to have for my background as my first layer. In this case it was the lined paper. I then used the same font as my film poster and created my title. I wanted to incorporate the drawing into the my magazine review. I drew the designs first then scanned them into photoshop. I positioned the first drawing in the bottom left hand corner.  After that I placed the other drawing I did in the bottom right hand corner. I also placed some equations in the background. I wanted to include pictures from the film so I used some screenshots and a photograph I took when I was filming. I wanted to position them evenly across the double page.  I then focussed on including text boxes which include information about the film and about the images that have been included. I wanted to include a quote from the director to almost make the review look more realistic. I decided to put the film information in a text box near the title....

Magazine review- drawing ideas

Image
Due to interest in including drawings in the background of my magazine review I wanted to sketch some ideas that I think would look really effective. I kept to the idea of Spiderman because I think that it would work really well for the same theme to be carried out between he three different pieces, my film, poster and magazine review. I wanted a close up drawing to emphasise his heightened senses and one where he is moving to highlight his ability.
