Research
I found out that Sainsbury's were doing an autism hour which i found to be very interesting and I thought it would be very useful for research. I was wanting to go there during this hour and gather research about the atmosphere and the reactions that people had involving the changes. They said that they would be silencing the sound of the checkouts and the amount of tannoy's. I decided to ask the head of the store whether I was able to film within the store and he was happy to help the only thing that I needed to do was provide proof that it was for my film so I provided a letter which explained my intentions.
When experiencing this change I noticed how quiet the store was in a way that I didn't hear as much background noise. I can imagine how annoying the atmosphere of a typical supermarket would be for a autistic child and just by silencing certain sounds could change so much for someone. I could hardly hear the beeps from the tills which in itself made the store considerably quieter, and the colleagues changed the amount of tannoys that were done which again made the store alot quieter. Another aspect of the store that was changed was the brightness of the lights which I thought was better then the normal lighting that is used because it wasnt so harsh and blinding.
