Film poster- aspects and explanations

the different aspects of my film poster include the title, release date, review, production company icon, actors names and information about the director.

Title- The title is positioned at the bottom of the film poster. It is in the centre because during my research I found that the important information was positioned in the centre. The font I used creates the idea that it is almost childlike and hand written which relates to the storyline of the film and Charlie's character.

Release date- The release date is positioned just above the title. I decided to put it there because I found that when peoples eyes are drawn to the title the next thing they will look at is the release date which is another part of important information. It is in the same font as the title allowing it to match and fit in which the film poster. I also positioned it in the centre of the film poster because important information is commonly positioned in the centre of the poster.

Actors names- The actors names are slightly smaller when compared to the size of the title and release date, this is because it is seen as less important. Due to where they are positioned they are still emphasised. By including the actors names it tells the audience something more about the film and allows there to be an already existing fan base.

Drawing- The drawing represents the relationship between the main character and Spiderman, even though Spiderman isn't featured the idea of him is highlighted. This is because of the way that Charlie relates to him within the film. I decided to do the design as a drawing because I thought that it would link more to the idea that people with autism like things to be clear to them and they don't like change. With the use of the background (lines) the idea of it being a drawing is emphasised because it looks like it has been drawn straight onto the background.

Review- I positioned the review in the top right hand corner. I decided to use the same font as the title and release date to almost infer to the viewer that it is a important piece of information. With the review I have also included a a 3 star rating which is commonly found on a film poster. I wanted it to be noticeable but not some much that it overpowers the title this is why I positioned it int he corner and have made it smaller.

Production company icon and social media icons- When researching I found that the majority of film posters have social media advertising. By including this it allows the target audience to know that they can research the film on these platforms if they want to know more information about it. The production icon allows the audience to research how successful the company is by researching the other films that they have done. I have positioned them at the bottom of poster because even though they are small they stand out against the plain background.

Colour theme- The colour theme that I chose to use is black and white, I did this because I wanted to infer the idea of seeing things in clack and white which is very simple and plain, this then relates to the idea of autism and peoples interpretations of it.
